A turnkey systems integrator for the plastics processing sector, Robotic Automation Systems (RAS) has opened its new 13,000-square-foot facility in Waunakee WI, tripling capacity.

RAS provides custom end-of-arm tooling and upstream and downstream automation systems using Fanuc, ABB, Wemo, and Epson robots. The new facility will enable expansion of its automation services into other market segments to meet demand caused by the ever-growing labor shortage, said the company in its announcement.

Three times larger than its previous facility, the production floor measures 7,500 square feet with a 31-foot clear span ceiling that can accommodate the largest three-axis robots on the market today. A 5-ton overhead crane can safely lift and easily set robots into place

The expansion will better accommodate a more-efficient flow of products throughout the production floor. It also affords the company the ability to build larger and more complex turnkey automation systems across many market segments, while maintaining a focus on the horizontal and vertical injection molding and blow molding industries, said RAS.

The facility includes a fully integrated 1,600-square-foot machine shop, which will allow RAS to machine custom components for third parties and not just for internal use.

Additive manufacturing equipment will be installed later this year.
